New PLC interlocking with COTS safety controllers offers SIL 4 safety and reduces lifecycle costs by 30%

Consulting and engineering firm Movares has implemented a PLC interlocking based on industrial COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) hardware from HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH for ProRail, the state-owned Dutch railway infrastructure enterprise.
The Santpoort Noord railway station project is the world`s first PLC interlocking for main lines that satisfies the requirements of the highest safety level, SIL 4, in accordance with CENELEC. HIMA to supply VRS Railway Industry with SIL 4 safety systems as part of 10-year contract

HIMA Benelux B.V. and the Dutch company VRS Railway Industry B.V. have agreed to a 10-year contract that calls for HIMA to supply safety-related controllers that are rated SIL 4, in accordance with CENELEC.

VRS has developed next-generation railway crossings based on HIMA HIMatrix® systems in cooperation with Movares, a Dutch engineering consultancy. 06-04-2014 - 16 Percent Sales Growth

HIMA increases sales by 16%, expects double-digit growth in fiscal 2014

HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH + Co KG closed fiscal year 2013 with record sales of 105 million euros. This 16% increase in sales over the previous year was significantly higher than the industry average growth rate. Orders received thus far in 2014 indicate that double-digit sales growth will also be achieved this year.

05-05-2014 - New Executive Board

Growth brings change: HIMA adds new senior management

Over the past 10 years, safety automation expert HIMA has doubled its sales, tripled its workforce and increased its number of Group companies worldwide from two to 16. To ensure continued growth and success, the company has created the new positions of chief executive officer (CEO) and chief financial officer (CFO).

Steffen Philipp, Managing Partner since 1999, continues to oversee the company's strategic alignment while taking on more duties as a partner and investor. Philipp, who took the company into its fourth generation, will drive structural and overall economic development of the firm while preserving the character of the financially independent, family-run organization. Additionally, Philipp will act as HIMA Group ambassador to key customers and representatives from government, science and business. 

Sankar Ramakrishnan, Head of Marketing since October 2012, was appointed CEO in October 2013. Reinhard Seibold, who assumed the newly created function of CFO on May 1, completes the new management Team.

01-31-2014 - Safety Solution for the Kittiwake Oil Platform

Hima-Sella to Supply Fire & Gas Detection System for the Kittiwake Oil Platform
in UK North Sea

Hima-Sella, sole UK & Ireland agent of HIMA, has been awarded a contract from international oilfield services provider Petrofac for the provision of an upgraded fire and gas detection system for the Kittiwake oil and gas platform in the North Sea, which it operates as Duty Holder on behalf of Centrica Energy. The system will feature a HIMA HIMax and incorporate an addressable controller (rated to SIL 2), and the overall project will also include the supply of new flame, smoke and gas detectors.

New safety solutions for process industry, machine safety and intralogistics

At this year's trade fair, HIMA will introduce the new X-CPU 31 processor module with integrated system bus. The CPU complements the HIMax® system family for nonstop plant operation and is used with small and medium-sized safety applications.

The new SILworX® engineering tool V6, used to program HIMax and HIMatrix safety controllers, will also be presented. The SILworX tool now allows the integration of proprietary C programs and C source codes from external tools. In this way, highly complex safety solutions, such as those that are model-based, are easier to implement. The new version also supports Structured Text (ST), which can be especially useful in simplifying implementation of loop programming and CRC calculations as well as for the insertion of functions in text format. ...
