Today’s safety-related automation solutions are required not only to provide functional safety, but to also ensure cyber security. Functional safety serves to protect human beings,
machinery and the environment. Cyber security on the other hand, focuses on the availability, integrity and confidentiality of both data and software.
HIMA ensures security from the beginning of its product development process. This includes, for example, the recognized ‘Achilles Satellite’ test system from the independent Canadian company Wurldtech. Cyber attacks were simulated online and evaluated. In these tests, the HIMax processor and communication modules proved their resilience against cyber attacks. Thereupon, Wurldtech issued the Achilles Level 1 Security Certificate for the HIMax X-CPU 01 and X-COM 01 in June 2009. This certification is valued in tparticular by the oil and gas industry.
