HIMA wins award for co-development of an exemplary Industry 4.0 solution

HIMA's HICore chip was the basis of safe control technology we created for a driverless transport system developed for a research project at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The consortium of the KARIS PRO research project was recognized by the state of Baden-Württemberg. HIMA was also given a 1st place award by the technical journal “Handling” in the category Automation & Robotics.

KARIS PRO (Small-Scale Autonomous Redundant Intralogistics System for Production) is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, and was initiated by the consortium Technologie im Intralogistik-Netzwerk Baden-Württemberg (Technology in the Intralogistics Network Baden-Württemberg). KARIS PRO uses redundant, structurally identical individual elements that navigate autonomously and transport load carriers. KARIS PRO combines the advantages of adaptability with cost efficiency.

For this project HIMA supplies a flexible, high-performance safety concept. Safety is one of the central topics of Industry 4.0 – mobile autonomous transport systems that move freely through factories and operate in the vicinity of human beings.
