HIMA's New Fuse and Power Distribution Module K 7217

HIMA Paul Hildebrandt GmbH, the world's leading independent provider of smart safety solutions for industry, presents the new fuse and power distribution module K 7217. Developed as the successor of the K 7214, the K 7217 was designed for demanding applications in the automation and process industries and is tailored for use with selected ETA electronic circuit protectors.

The new development offers numerous advantages, including a more compact power distribution, a higher number of available slots, and particular suitability for integration with HIMA's flexible and scalable safety-related control system HIQuad X. The K 7217 module has also been ATEX and IECEx certified, an additional benefit for its users.

Highly compact power supply, more slots, easy mounting

The K 7217 enables flexible fuse protection for up to 30 individual circuits with circuit breakers or electronic circuit protectors, where a monitoring contact signals when they have tripped. Two separate groups of 15 individual circuits can be secured as well. The device is operated with a maximum current of 150 A or 2 x 75 A, and is designed for 24 VDC or 48 VDC (SELV/PELV). Thanks to the large number of slots, compact power distributions can be achieved in existing plants as well as in new power distribution systems. The K 7217 features 30 slots, well exceeding the 18 slots capacity of the K 7214 predecessor. The advantage: users can save a significant amount of space in control cabinets. The compact, 19-inch mounting frame ensures particularly easy installation and time savings.

Ideal for use with HIQuad X and in explosion protected areas

Being mounted in a 19-inch frame, the K 7217 is particularly suitable for use with the safety-related HIMA system HIQuad X. This flexible and scalable control system is a further development of HIQuad, which has been successfully used for over 30 years in numerous applications within the process industry. With HIQuad X, plant operators have the best requirements for upgrading their plants to the latest standards for functional safety (IEC 61511) and cybersecurity (IEC 62443). Another benefit: the K 7217 has ATEX and IECEx certification, which means that it can be used in EX zone 2. Plant operators have thus a fuse and power distribution module which is not only provided with significantly more slots, but can also be used very flexibly for circuit protection in existing plants and in modernization projects.
